Bespokea is a family business. Below the people you are likely to come across when you visit the workshop. Bespokea began in 2015. Using Ikea units as a basis for a one-off kitchen has been a bit of a trade secret for many years, but we believe that we were the first in the UK to specialise in this.
Joshua
Joshua is currently studying for his A levels. He also dedicates a great deal of time to boxing – best result for him so far was a knock-out in the first round after 100 seconds.
He often comes in on a Saturday to either help me or to work on his own projects.
Faith
Faith is a Personal Trainer who works from a purpose-built gym at our home in Archway. She works with female clients on a one-to-one basis and is qualified to deal with a multitude of health issues, including cardiac rehabilitation. Get in touch if you feel you need her services…
She comes into Bespokea a couple of days a week to keep on top of the administration and to tell me off for not keeping the place as tidy as she would wish.
Duncan
My name is Duncan Strong. I am the person you will have most to do with at Bespokea and who also makes everything. This photo was taken in 1990 when I had just finished making my first chair, prior to it being polished and upholstered. I still have the chair but sadly not the hair.
I have been making and finishing mostly contemporary furniture ever since. This has ranged from making an Arts and Crafts table for a National Trust property to painting a fridge with the Union Flag for Noel Gallagher.
